Greg Davies practices primarily in all areas of family law relating to child protection. He regularly acts for parents, grandparents, guardians and local authorities in public law care and adoption proceedings. He has conducted cases involving:
Greg undertakes work in private law Children Act proceedings, including special guardianship, contact, residence, specific issue and prohibited steps order applications, fact finding hearings, removal of children from the jurisdiction and child abduction cases. He has experience of child related Public Interest Immunity (PII) applications in the Crown Court and appears regularly in the FPC, County Court and High Court. Greg has conducted numerous Family Law Act injunction cases and is strongly committed to representing survivors of domestic violence.
With a background in Social Anthropology, Greg has an interest in cross-cultural issues within family and child protection law. Before being called to the Bar, Greg volunteered for the Human Rights Commission in Auckland and worked on Treaty of Waitangi projects with Maori and indigenous rights groups in New Zealand.
Greg also previously worked as a learning support assistant in a school for children with Emotional Behavioural Difficulties (EBD) in West London and has experience caring for young people with epilepsy and Autistic Spectrum Disorders (ASDs).
Greg is involved in overseas projects involving children's rights in conflict zones. He has worked with government officials, UN agencies and NGOs in Israel and the Occupied Palestinian Territory over the past three years on the treatment of Palestinian children by the Israeli military (Children in Military Custody).
