Profile:

Roma Whelan has over 20 years' experience in family type matters. The majority of her work has been in child care public law cases including representation of Local Authorities, Parents and Guardians.

 

She has also been involved in private law disputes and domestic violence matters, including refuge work. Roma has also been involved for Local Authorities in disputes relating to childminders.

 

She has also represented parties on Ancillary relief matters, and has represented clients in all of these areas to the highest level, including Court of Appeal and Judicial Review. Other non family work undertaken by Roma includes prisoner representation in internal disputes heard by prison governors, jury trial as well as travel law.

 

Recent non family matters include representing the NUT in cases involving teachers of unprofessional conduct and acting for veterinary surgeons on misconduct hearings at the Royal Veterinary College.
