Sharan has developed a practice in all aspects of family law, with particular regard to child protection issues. She maintains the importance of representing all parties in cases and is regularly instructed on behalf of parents, local authorities and children's Guardians. Sharan ensures that she attaches importance and proper case management and advice to each case on an individual basis regardless of whom she is representing and has developed a reputation for being straightforward and forthright without undermining client's needs.
Sharan's experience in public law is extensive, ranging from Emergency Protection orders to Secure Accommodation Orders and discharging Care Orders.
Similarly, her experience in Private law is also far ranging, including Declarations of Parentage and all aspects of Abductions, Hague and Non Hague Convention related.
Sharan has considerable experience in sexual, physical and non accidental abuse cases and has often represented intervenors in such difficult matters. She has experience in cross examining a wide range of experts, including medical experts. She is able to offer experience and insight in complex cases and those with sensitive issues such as transgender or cultural factors.
Her attitude is one of true determination and professionalism, whilst always seeking to provide an unrivalled service to both lay and professional clients. Sharan takes a proactive team player approach to cases and has built up long and strong relationships over the years by being available for advice and work at short notice in emergency situations. Her manner with lay clients is approachable and efficient and is able to explain complex and difficult terms in a way that is understood by all.
Sharan is instructed regularly by solicitors who have vulnerable clients and has often acted through the Official Solicitor. She is one of a number of members of chambers who also have experience in Court of Protection work and Sharan has particular experience in those cases where the interplay between Family Law and the Mental Capacity Act 2005 occurs.
Sharan is fluent in Punjabi.
Assisted Kent County Constabulary in the training of officers in all facets of domestic violence.
Sharan has contributed to legal advice centres giving free advice.
