CHAMBERS COMPLAINTS PROCEDURE

In accordance with current regulatory requirements Chambers has in place a complaints procedure by which any client can make a complaint to us directly without involving a solicitor. All complaints relating to any aspect of Chambers service should be addressed to the Head of Chambers and Practice Manager.

Complaints should be made in writing, either by letter or e-mail and will be acknowledged promptly by Chambers.

From 6 October 2010 anyone with a service complaint about a barrister or service provided by a Chambers in England and Wales can go to the new Legal Ombudsman website or call the helpline telephone number 0300 500 0333 (calls are charged at local rates) for guidance.

Your initial complaint should, however, be sent to Chambers where a full investigation will be undertaken and hopefully a satisfactory conclusion reached.

In the unlikely event that your complaint should relate to the conduct of your barrister please again contact Chambers first.  The regulatory body for this type of complaint is the Bar Standards Board. Chambers will endeavour to resolve your complaint before consultation with the BSB.

If you direct your complaint to the Legal Ombudsman and it relates to a barrister's conduct as opposed to level of service (or both) there is an agreement between the BSB & the Legal Ombudsman and the LO will refer the complaint to the BSB.

Should you need further information or assistance please contact Chambers' Practice Manager (020 783 3214) or Managing Clerk (020 783 3200).

This Chambers promotes equality and values Diversity and is compliant with The Equality Act 2010.
