The case concerned whether the biological father of a child being brought up by a lesbian couple, one of whom was the biological mother, should have parental responsibility. The court received interesting evidence from Dr Claire Sturge on the nature of same sex family relationships, the deficiencies of language to reflect them and the research on same sex parenting. Parental responsibility was granted with restrictions.

Article by Stephen Hicks, Senior Lecturer at Salford University, examining the 'evidence' advanced by the Christian Right on the alleged adverse impact of parenting by lesbian & gay people. Stephen Hicks has written a number of articles on the topic including a UK history which is available through Ingenta.
