Tom is currently undertaking an abridged practising pupillage under the supervision of Jacqui Gilliatt.
Prior to coming to the Bar, Tom was a Senior Associate Solicitor in the family department at Osbornes Law. Tom joined Osbornes Law having trained and practiced at Goodman Ray. Tom was in private practice as a solicitor for over seven years.
Tom’s practice spans the full breath of public and private children’s law.
Tom regularly acts for parties to care proceedings. He is experienced in working with vulnerable parents and family members. Tom was previously a member of The Law Society’s Children Panel and represented children subject to care proceedings directly and through their Children’s Guardian. During his time as a solicitor, Tom’s care practice focussed on cases featuring serious allegations of harm, parallel criminal proceedings, suspected non-accidental injury and fabricated and induced illness and cases involving complex factual disputes.
Tom also represents parties to adoption proceedings concerning domestic and international adoptions and the recognition of foreign adoptions.
In his private work, Tom represents parents and family members in children disputes, including child arrangements, leave to remove (domestic and international) and in disputes relating to welfare decisions. Tom is experienced in cases involving domestic abuse, allegations of harm, allegations of alienating behaviours, parental conflict and those with an international element.
Tom also acts for parties in applications for protective injunctions, including non-molestation orders, occupation orders and forced marriage protection orders.

Alongside his practice Tom sits on the Executive Committee of The Association of Lawyers for Children and Resolution’s Children Committee.
